Seeing "Failed to update job" toast notification, or changes aren't saving when editing a job.

Common Causes and Solutions

Error: "Failed to update job"

Cause 1: Network interruption during save

Solution: Check your connection and click "Save" again

Cause 2: Another user modified the job simultaneously

Solution: Refresh the page to see the latest data, then make your edits

Cause 3: Invalid data format

Solution: Ensure dates are in the correct format and required fields aren't empty

Error: "Failed to update job status"

Cause: The status transition may not be valid

Solution: Cancelled jobs cannot be changed; completed jobs can only be reversed

Check that you have permission to modify this job

Error: "Failed to cancel job"

Cause: The job may already be in a final state

Solution: Verify the job isn't already cancelled

Ensure you've selected a cancellation reason

Edit Mode Not Working

Symptom: Cannot enter edit mode or fields are read-only

Possible Causes:

The job is in "Completed" or "Cancelled" status (limited edits)

You don't have edit permissions for this job type

The modal is still loading data

Solution: Wait for the loading indicator to finish before attempting edits

Tips for Successful Updates

Wait for the spinning indicator to finish before making edits

Don't close the modal while a save is in progress

Verify your changes by refreshing the page after saving

Make one change at a time if multiple updates are failing
