Rental Duration and Job Length

For delivery jobs, the rental duration indicates how long equipment will remain at the customer site. PortaPro tracks this to help plan pickups and calculate rental charges.

Understanding Rental Duration

Rental Duration: The planned number of days equipment will be on-site

Calculated Return Date: Delivery date + duration = expected pickup date

Equipment Assignments: Each assignment tracks assigned_date and return_date

Viewing Rental Period

For delivery jobs, the Schedule card in the Job Detail Modal displays:

Current Pickup Date: When equipment is scheduled to be picked up

Duration: Number of rental days

Editing Rental Duration

During Job Creation

In Step 2 (Job Type & Scheduling), select "Delivery" as job type

The rental duration field appears

Enter the number of days

On Existing Jobs

Open the Job Detail Modal

Click "Edit"

Locate "Rental Duration (Days)" in the Schedule card

Enter the new duration

Click "Save"

Job Length Control

The Job Detail Modal includes a "Rental Period" section that shows:

Current pickup date (formatted as weekday, month day)

Duration in days

Calculated from equipment assignment data

Indefinite Rentals

Some jobs have indefinite rental periods:

Marked with an amber "Indefinite" badge

No specific return date set

Common for long-term contracts or seasonal placements

Tips

Duration changes may require updating related pickup jobs

Equipment assignments track the actual delivery and return dates

Use indefinite rentals for open-ended customer agreements
