Updating Job Status (Start, Complete, Reverse)

Managing job status is essential for tracking field operations in real-time. This article explains how to progress, complete, and reverse job statuses.

Starting a Job

From the Job Detail Modal:

Open the job you want to start

Locate the green action button:

- Shows "Start Job" if status is Assigned or Unassigned

- Shows "Complete Job" if status is In Progress

Click the button

Status updates immediately with a success toast

What Happens When You Start a Job:

Status changes from Assigned/Unassigned to "In Progress"

The change is reflected across all views (Calendar, Dispatch, Map)

Assigned driver sees the job as active in their Driver App

Completing a Job

From the Job Detail Modal:

Open the in-progress job

Click the green "Complete Job" button

Job status changes to "Completed"

Automatic Actions on Completion:

Completion Timestamp: `actual_completion_time` is recorded

Equipment Return: If the job has equipment assignments, items are automatically marked as "returned"

Product Item Status: Specific product items are updated back to "available"

Consumable Stock: If consumables are tracked, location stock is adjusted

Reversing a Job Status

Sometimes you need to roll back a job's status due to errors or changing circumstances.

From the Job Detail Modal:

Open the job you want to reverse

Click the "Reverse" button (circular arrow icon)

Status rolls back one step

Reverse Behavior:

| Current Status | After Reverse |

|----------------|---------------|

| Completed | In Progress |

| In Progress (with driver) | Assigned |

| In Progress (no driver) | Unassigned |

When to Use Reverse:

Job was accidentally marked complete

Driver reported issue requiring return to previous status

Scheduling changes require rework

Status Update Validation

The system prevents invalid transitions:

Cannot reverse an Unassigned or Assigned job (they're at the starting point)

Cannot start a Cancelled job

Cannot complete a Cancelled job

Tips

All status changes are logged in the job's event history

Drivers using the mobile app can also update job status in the field

Reversing a completed job will not automatically un-return equipment - you may need to manually reassign
