Temporary fence rental software
Draw the fence. Load the truck in panels.
Tap the corners of the run on the site's satellite photo, or type the feet the customer asked for. PortaPro counts the panels, gates, stands, clamps and sandbags on your own products and puts them on the job, priced.
The Fence calculator
Counted the way a crew builds it.
Open it from a delivery job or a quote, draw the run or type the feet. Add to job puts each count on as its own line and writes the plan into the notes for the crew. It only adds; nothing you already picked is removed.
- Panels
- Gates go in first and the rest of the run is panels, rounded up. 500 feet of 6 foot panels is 84, never 83.
- Stands
- One under every joint. A straight run has one more stand than sections; an enclosure closes back on itself and has the same number.
- Clamps
- One joint fewer than sections on a run, the same number on an enclosure, times your clamps per joint.
- Sandbags
- Stands times your sandbags per stand. A planning guide, not a wind-load calculation.
- Screen
- Along the panels, not the gates. Feet when the screen is priced by the foot, one piece per panel when it isn't.
Fence line
The crew sees where the fence goes.
A fence drawn on the map is saved with the job. A quote keeps it too and hands it to the delivery and the pickup jobs it creates.
The job shows a Fence line card with the satellite photo, the total, each side's length and Open in Maps, in the office and in the driver app. The crew setting it up and the crew taking it down work from the same drawing.
On the job
Every count is a line, priced from your rates.
Add to job puts each count on as its own line, priced from your rates, and writes the plan into the notes. A second run on the same job adds to the lines already there.
Inventory
Panels, gates and sandbags are just products.
Pick Fencing as the product category and choose the type: panels, stands and bases, clamps, sandbags, pedestrian and vehicle gates, windscreen, or barricades. Give each panel and gate the feet of line it covers.
Code every gate if you want to know which one is where, or track stands, clamps and sandbags by count. A weekend festival booking holds its panels for those dates, so a second job that weekend sees what's left.
Screen by the foot
Windscreen priced and stocked in feet.
Turn on Priced by the linear foot and one unit is one foot. You stock the feet you own, you price per foot, and a 500 foot run books 500. Leave it off to rent screen one piece per panel.
Billing
A fence that stays up bills itself.
Put a construction site's fence on the customer's rate card and it invoices with everything else on the cycle. Each row picks its own rate period: Per Day, Per Week, Per 28-Day Cycle, Per Month or Per Year.
- Per Day bills every day of the invoice's period
- Per Year bills once, at the start of each contract year
- Customer prices override your standard rates
Questions fence companies ask
How accurate is a fence drawn on the map?
The length is measured along the ground between the corners you tap on the satellite photo. Treat it like a tape measure off an aerial: plenty for quoting and loading the truck, not a survey. Panels are still rounded up to whole panels, and you can drag any corner or type the feet instead.
Is the sandbag count an engineering calculation?
No. It is the number of stands times your sandbags per stand, a planning guide. Add more in wind or on runs with screen. Office staff can save the clamps per joint and sandbags per stand they use as the company default.
What if my panels aren't 10 feet?
Each panel, barricade and gate product carries its own length in feet, and the calculator divides by it. A 6 ft panel and an 8 ft barricade count differently. If a product has no length on file, the calculator assumes 10 ft panels, 4 ft pedestrian gates and 12 ft vehicle gates and tells you so.
How many fence types can go on one order?
There is no limit. Panels, barricades, gates, stands, clamps, sandbags and screen are ordinary products, so a job can carry as many as the site needs, alongside restrooms or a roll-off.
How do I bill a fence that stays up for months?
Put it on the customer's rate card with a rate period of Per Day, Per Week, Per 28-Day Cycle, Per Month or Per Year. A Per Day row bills every day of the invoice's period. A Per Year row is a one-year contract billed once at the start of each contract year. Short events are priced from each product's rates like any rental.
