ALWAYS WITHIN REACH

One big PTT button. Every screen. Mobile and desktop.

A persistent push-to-talk button lives in the bottom-right corner of PortaPro on every page, every device. Drivers don't leave a job to talk. Dispatchers don't switch tabs. Owners don't hunt for a radio. Press it, talk, release done.

  • Floats over every page jobs, routes, invoices, the dispatch board
  • Same position on iOS, Android, and the desktop dispatch app
  • Tap-and-hold to talk, or single-tap to latch for longer transmissions
  • Mini channel indicator shows who's on the air and on which channel
  • Hide it per-user if a teammate prefers Bluetooth or a dash PTT only

WHAT'S IN THE BOX

Built for the way portable sanitation actually runs

Every feature on this page is designed for a driver in the cab, a dispatcher on the board, and a leadership team that needs the record after the fact.

  • 1-tap push-to-talk: Press the on-screen button, a Bluetooth headset, or a dash-mounted PTT controller. Talk lands on every driver in the channel in under a second.

  • Channels by route, region, or crew: Group drivers the way you dispatch. North route, weekend events, pump truck crew spin up a channel in seconds and tear it down when the job's done.

  • Broadcast to all: One-to-all announcements for weather holds, schedule changes, and end-of-day wrap-ups. Lock replies so the whole company hears the same message.

What you get with PortaPro instead

$0extra per user

Included with every PortaPro subscription unlimited drivers, unlimited channels.

  • Tied to the job, not a separate app

Every transmission is recorded and stitched to the route, stop, or customer it happened on. A driver says "site looks blocked" — that audio sits on the job, forever.

  • One app, one login, one bill

Drivers don't bounce between the radio app and PortaPro. Owners don't get a second invoice. IT doesn't manage a second roster of seats.

  • Same enterprise voice quality

Sub-200ms latency, 48 kHz audio, AI noise suppression, and 200+ country coverage the same backbone the standalone radios run on.

  • Searchable history that pays for itself

Pull the audio for any stop in a customer dispute. Replay last week's dispatch broadcast. Train new drivers on real calls.

Don't see your device?

Most Bluetooth HID PTT accessories work out of the box. We're publishing a full certified-device list at launch tell us what you're running and we'll confirm compatibility before July.

HANDS-FREE FOR GLOVED HANDS

Talk without touching the screen.

Field gloves, wet hands, a phone mounted across the cab a touchscreen button isn't always the right answer. Here's the honest, platform-specific picture of every way a driver can transmit without unlocking the phone or taking their eyes off the road.

Android

Android lets PortaPro intercept hardware key events directly. Drivers pick their trigger in the app settings the rest of the phone keeps working the way it always has.

  • Volume Up or Volume Down as PTT

Toggle on in driver settings hold the chosen volume key to transmit, release to stop. The OS volume change is suppressed while PTT mode is on, so it doesn't fight with the media playing in the cab.

  • Dedicated PTT side button on PoC radios

On Sonim, Inrico, Hytera, and Crosscall handsets the side button is exposed as its own keycode. Zero conflict with volume PortaPro just listens for it.

  • Steering-wheel & Android Auto buttons

Bind a vehicle media button to PTT through Android Auto. Drivers transmit from the wheel without ever touching the phone.

  • Bluetooth lapel PTT button

Same AINA / Pryme / Savox buttons listed above. Clip it to a uniform, press to talk works through the thickest winter glove.

iPhone & iPad

Apple doesn't allow third-party apps to remap the volume buttons for PTT and we won't pretend otherwise. What Apple does give us is better: a system-level PTT control that works from the lock screen, the Watch, and dedicated hardware.

  • Lock-screen PTT button (iOS 16+)

Apple's PushToTalk framework puts a big system-level transmit button on the lock screen, in Control Center, and in the Dynamic Island. One tap, no unlock.

  • Apple Watch complication

Add PortaPro to the watch face. Big tap target on the wrist, works with gloves, and the digital crown can be bound to push-and-hold transmit.

  • Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro+)

Map the side Action Button to a PortaPro shortcut. Single press transmits — programmable per driver, no software hacks.

  • Back Tap & AirPods Pro

Double-tap the back of the phone, or press-and-hold an AirPod stem, to fire PTT through a Shortcut. Both work through gloves.

  • Bluetooth lapel PTT button

The universal answer same AINA / Pryme / Savox buttons that work on Android work identically on iPhone. The field-service standard for a reason.

Our honest recommendation for fleets in the field

Equip every driver with a $25–$40 Bluetooth lapel PTT button. It's the one accessory that works identically on iPhone, Android, and PoC radios, survives gloves and weather, and removes platform from the conversation. The volume-key and lock-screen paths are great fallbacks the lapel button is the standard.
